If I had to describe my practice as a watercolour artist, I would compare myself to a DJ who arranges a compilation. This analogy occured to me when I came across Peter Kruder's and Richard Dorfmeister's series "Private Collection" on the G-Stone label.

The DJ need not be a technical expert like, for example, the musician who plays his instrument with virtuosity. The DJ must be inspired. He works with different sounds and musical styles that he selects for his audience. He has emotional access to the music. In the 1970's "The Tribe", a community of musicians from Detroit, stated: "Music is the healing force of the universe." They also have spiritual access to their art.

For me painting is therapy. You can slow down your thoughts and be mindful of your emotions. It helps me, as does my Christian belief. As a person with mental health issues I struggle with serious depression, inner aggression and mental exhaustion (inner emptiness).

For a work of art I use only a few different colours. Often I use only one colour in different luminosities. Working on paper I try to create a certain tone of colour, just like a DJ when he designs and arranges a sound compilation. Peter Kruder's pieces are "masterpieces" to him.
For me the materials I use already possess an artistic quality.

The DJ is very connected to his collegues, for example through his label. In the Freiburg Artistic-Therapeutic Centre we also interact and work together in a calm atmosphere. "Instead of mystifying or elevating things, we rather encourage people to explore the myth." (John Acquaviva, Co-founder of the +8 label).

I am very much looking forward to the exhibition "Grenzgänger" ("Border Crossers") and to being in dialogue with others and experiencing the process of the touring exhibition. I would like to thank the Freiburger Hilfsgemeinschaft Club 55, which I have the pleasure of attending on a regular basis.

From an interview with Peter Kruder and Richard Dorfmeister:

Journalist: "Who are you actually?"

Answer: "We are two weenies."
